​Hi, I’m Joe Floyd and I get to go to work with superheroes every day. Not the masks and spandex type—real life superheroes who risk everything to use their passion to change the world: Entrepreneurs.

​​Through my experience as a General Partner at Emergence and a Kauffman Fellow, I’ve had the opportunity to interview some of the world’s most incredible entrepreneurs and investors. People involved in amazing companies like Google, Facebook, Salesforce and Yahoo! Now, I have turned those insights into Silicon Heroes.

​Silicon Heroes is a 96 page, full color graphic novel. The story follows five young tech workers who embark on a quest to discover their inner entrepreneurial superpowers.

The goal is to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs of all kinds with the characteristics and skills that power startup success. 


​Silicon Heroes promotes entrepreneurs as positive role models with superpowers. The story highlights 5 superpowers that map to the 5 behavioral characteristics of successful CEOs. Anyone can learn these powers and be a hero! 


​Silicon Heroes promotes diversity. One major theme highlights the challenges faced by women and minorities in the workplace. The graphic novel medium enforces the inner strength of these characters by visually showing their triumph over challenges.

​Silicon Heroes supports future entrepreneurs. Profits from Silicon Heroes benefit Girls Who Code, an organization that educates and inspires young women to pursue opportunities in technology and Code.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding school participation in computer science. 


​Silicon Heroes is hilarious. The story pokes fun at the strange little bubble *cough* magical world that is Silicon Valley. From drones to self flying smart cars, we took a good, long look at ourselves and laughed. Star Wars, Nintendo, CrossFit, Yo App – nothing is sacred!


​​I worked with an amazing team to bring Silicon Heroes to life. Editor Mark Irwin and illustrator Michael Penick have decades of comic experience and have contributed to legendary brands like Marvel and DC.
